The identified year is for guidance only. You may choose any course at any time as appropriate for you. If you are a part-time student, then the equivalent year of study applies. Courses are grouped under the most relevant Joint Skills Statement skills area, but some may pertain to other skills areas (for example 'Managing your Supervisor', as well as addressing Networking & Teamworking Skills is also relevant as a Research Management skill). Individual Departments will be running the majority of courses covered by the Research Skills & Techniques and Research Environment headings. Please see your Departmental web pages or literature for further information. Other Research Skills Courses are run as part of the Research Training & Development programme. Attendance at any of these courses will count towards the recommended 10 days a year of skills training for first year research postgraduates. An attendance certificate, to record professional development and for use as evidence in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) process, can be provided if requested. The courses are free for all AU research students. A £10 charge will however be incurred by any student failing to attend a course they have booked, unless cancellation has been made at least 24 working hours prior to the course start time.
